Schools

Hi there,

As you would know there is a lot to consider when moving to a new town and where you are planing on living. I do not know about every school in the area only what I have heard from other parents and as you know there are good stories and bad stories from every school. My son who has Autism goes to mainstream school at Sawtell public and we have found that it is a very good school for both our children - one not on the spectrum.

Hi, There is a strong possibility we will be moving to Coffs Harbour in the next few months with my husband's job.

We are from New Zealand and have been living in Victoria for the last 8 months and have been somewhat suprised by the attitude of our local schools in Victoria. We have 2 children with autism. A gorgeous 6 year old daughter who is non verbal but very smart and an animal loving 9 year old son who is much more mildly affected, is verbal but very hypersensitive.

The Support Group has recently received a number of inquiries from families considering moving to the Coffs Harbour area. Their first question? Can you suggest a good school for my child who has ASD? This is obviously a really difficult question to answer especially as we all hear positive & negative stories about almost every school. If you have any information you would like to share about the school your child attends, please post it on the forum as this is a great way for parents to hear it "from the horse's mouth"!
