Quoteable Quotes

Hi to all the Mums, Dads and Carers out there!

I thought it might be fun to start a thread about the funny situations that arise from our kids being soooooo literal!!!

I reckon we could all use a laugh at some time or other.

Here's one to start:

Whilst driving to our new home, had a friend's ASD child in the car. He asked his mum: "How far now?"

Mum: "About a kilometre."

Son (after some quiet consideration, and in a very concerned voice):

"Mum, how do you kill a metre?"

Ongoing laughter from the rest of the car!

Imaginative play

Hi, We are focusing on imaginative play at EI (my son dosn't get the concept at all) and after many tiresome play sessions of him just not getting it, I was at his play group and noticed him playing with some tea set things. I ran over thinking he's finally got it! I picked up the tea pot and asked him if he was having a drink (as he was holding a cup) and I leaned over and pretend poured him one. He was quiet for a moment and then reached over and picked up to tea pot and looked inside, tipped it upside down and stated all gone!!! Where do you go from there! : ) Silly Mummy is mad, there isn't anything in that teapot : )

phrases

Hi there,

My son is picking up things my husband & I say in everyday situations more than we thought.

Our son, 4 1/2 years with HFA, is going through the WHY? stage. when I cant answer his question any further, I tell him "that's just the way it is sweetheart" and he is happy with that. We were in the kitchen the other day having morning tea when I asked him a simple question behind an action he did (cant quite remember what it was now) and he replied " cause that's my job". This surprised me and I was didnt know where he had got that from so I asked him why it was his job. he looked me straight in the eyes with head slightly tilted in a serious face saying, "mummy, thats just the way it is". I looked at my husband and all we could do was nod and turn away for a giggle - he was very serious and i didnt want to upset him.

another phrase- I came home from work the other day to our son playing a game on the computer (one of his obsessions) and asked him where my kiss and cuddle was; he turned to me without taking his eyes from what he was doing and said "Im just a little bit busy at the moment" and continued playing.

such innocence makes me laugh :)

 kind regards
