Our very sincere thanks go to Mary Jane Blackman of Book in Hand (special needs book supplier), along with her daughter, Lucy who presented an overview of "Lucy’s Story: Autism and Other Adventures".
The presentation was touted as being informative for everyone interested in Autism in Early Childhood - Grandparents, Mums, Dads, Aunts & Uncles, Educators, Therapists, Service Providers … & You !
and in Sensory Processing in Autism Spectrum Disorders (all ages and abilities, including Asperger Syndrome) and it fit the bill perfectly.
Another Bunning’s BBQ has been and gone, and again we had wonderful helpers.
Boambee Hall features a playground for the kids so this is our chosen venue for support meetings held during school holidays.
Thanks to those who contributed to our Gluten Free morning tea. Since we have had a recent increase in parents seeking information on dietary interventions, our April meeting was a GLUTEN FREE zone. And what do you know? It was actually YUMMY!
Locals, Sarah Rose and Sinclair Black hosted a Trivia Night on May 16th to raise funds for their upcoming ride in the Tour De Cure. The ride raises funds for various Cancer charities and will see them riding from Brisbane to Cairns (ouch!). Their Trivia Night was a great opportunity for us to exercise our brains in the lead up to our own Trivia Night on June 27th.
This year's Autism Awareness Walkathon - one of the most picturesque in the country - was held on Sunday May 17th.
The Sawtell Rotary Club held their 2009 Pride of Workmanship Awards presentation at the Sawtell RSL Club on May 25th and we are very proud to announce that the Coffs Coast Autism Committee were recognised for their efforts with an award, certificate and, most surprisingly a cheque for $700! Our very sincere thanks to the members of Sawtell Rotary Club for their recognition of our hardworking committee and for providing us with a great night out.
This month's presenter will be Rachel Kilbourne, Speech Therapist. Rachel is also Service Co-ordinator for Northcott Disability Services.
Please bring a small plate to share for morning tea if you are able.
Thanks to VOLUPTUOUS FOR WOMEN, JACQUI'S SHOE BOUTIQUE and COFFS EX SERVICES CLUB, the Fashion Spectacular held on June 26th was a sensational success with some gorgeous models strutting their stuff on the catwalk - our very own glamourous Michelle Turnbull included! The fashions were simply stunning, with colour and shine making repeated appearances on the catwalk and those shoes - wow! From fabulous flats to an awesome pair of purple suede stilletos, the styles on offer did not disappoint. The girls all looked fantastic.
Thanks so much to all the oh-so-brainy contestants who attended our first ever Trivia Night on Saturday June 27th.
