An absolutely fantastic day was had by all at Darlington Beach Holiday Park. With 100 people in attendance, we were once again ever so lucky weatherwise with a warm sunny morning and the afternoon storm holding off till we were packing up to head home.

To kick off the day Darlington Beach Holiday Park provided a scrummy pancake morning tea complete with ice cream, maple syrup and chocolate sauce - yum!

Prime Possum made an early appearance to hand out balloons, stickers and colour ins then the kids hit the poolswater slides and the amazing jumping pillow.

Lunch saw Graham & Lee firing up the BBQ for a sausage sizzle then everyone's favourite guy, Santa arrived with bags of sweets and icy poles for the kids.

What a fantastic day! Mums enjoyed hand or foot massages (THANK YOU, Nez!), eyebrow waxing (Naomi is a goddess!), DIY facials, wonderful food (oh so much food!), champagne, fruit punch and conversation while reading the latest in girly mags and watching - wait for it - Countdown re-runs!

Our first ever fundraiser BBQ at Bunnings Coffs Harbour was held on November 30th 2008 under sunny skies. That made for a roaring trade which amounted to in excess of $700 profit - that's a lot of sausages!

The Official Opening of the Coffs Coast Autism office was a resounding success with invited guests enjoying drinks & canapes in front of the office in the beautiful twilight of a perfect Coffs Harbour afternoon.

Brief speeches followed with Steve Glover of the Laminex Group & Cheryl Dixon from NAB giving personal accounts of their individual and company support of Coffs Coast Autism before doing the official honours and cutting the ribbon.

Guests had an opportunity to tour the office - the unanimous opinion being "very impressive".

Nominations for Office Bearers are now closed. The nominee list has been compiled and we have received just sufficient nominations for all positions. According to our rules of incorporation "if the number of nominations received is equal to the number of vacancies to be filled, the persons nominated are taken to be elected". Therefore, we will not require voting for the 2009 committee at our AGM. Our Treasurer's Report and Chairperson's Report are still required but we would foresee a fairly short and sweet AGM followed by a morning tea for all attendees. We hope to see you there.

Our very sincere thanks go to Mary Jane Blackman of Book in Hand (special needs book supplier), along with her daughter, Lucy who presented an overview of "Lucy’s Story: Autism and Other Adventures".

The presentation was touted as being informative for everyone interested in Autism in Early Childhood - Grandparents, Mums, Dads, Aunts & Uncles, Educators, Therapists, Service Providers … & You !
and in Sensory Processing in Autism Spectrum Disorders (all ages and abilities, including Asperger Syndrome) and it fit the bill perfectly.

Tuesday April 14, 2009
Start: 10:00 am
April venue: BOAMBEE HALL (take Sawtell Road exit from Highway).

Boambee Hall features a playground for the kids so this is our chosen venue for support meetings held during school holidays.

Thanks to those who contributed to our Gluten Free morning tea. Since we have had a recent increase in parents seeking information on dietary interventions, our April meeting was a GLUTEN FREE zone. And what do you know? It was actually YUMMY!

Friday May 8, 2009

Our Dads enjoyed a great get-together to watch the Australia vs New Zealand NRL game at Coffs Ex Services Club on May 8th. Plush boardroom chairs, platters of hot & cold finger food, tray service from the bar & a winning Australian NRL team. Bloke heaven!
