Schools around Coffs - moving to the area

Hi, There is a strong possibility we will be moving to Coffs Harbour in the next few months with my husband's job.

We are from New Zealand and have been living in Victoria for the last 8 months and have been somewhat suprised by the attitude of our local schools in Victoria. We have 2 children with autism. A gorgeous 6 year old daughter who is non verbal but very smart and an animal loving 9 year old son who is much more mildly affected, is verbal but very hypersensitive.

In Victoria Chloe attends a special development school for moderate to severe intellectually disabled children as we were told that was the only option for her. She loves the routine but is always suprising the teachers with how bright she is.

Currently I am homeschooling Stevie as four schools said that he should go to the special schools which of course he can't as he has a high IQ. Because of his sensory hypersensitivity he is very anxious so an understanding school is paramount.

I would really appreciate any information you can offer about schools whose principals and teachers have successfully integrated your child into their whole school ethos and are helping them to reach their potential.

 Alternatively, any schools that you have tried and they have been unsuccessful with your child as we have been there and done that too with our son.

 On a different note, can anyone recommend a high school in Coffs Harbour for a bright 12 year old girl (13 in January) who loves school work, animals and performing arts.
