Current Fundraising Goals
Short term:
- Autism Camp - Our aim is to organise and run a camp where families can take a hard earned break from the everyday in a tolerant, safe environment. Darlington Beach Resort has proven a hit with our kids for day activities and would be the perfect venue. To minimise the cost to families and provide plenty of activities and respite opportunities, some substantial fundraising is required to successfully reach this goal.
- Carer Training Package - Having been contacted by an agency seeking information on autism-specific training for carers, it is our goal to create a comprehensive, easy to understand training package for carers of children with Autism. Funding is required for the professional creation of DVDs, participant handouts, certificates etc.
Long term:
An Autism Centre on the Coffs Coast - Currently, the closest autism-specific facilities, besides our office, are at Alstonville to the North and Newcastle to the South. While our own office is a wonderful support to local families, larger premises, more customised to our needs are necessary to the types of projects and supports we aim to provide. Our current meeting room is at capacity for support meetings, we require suitable space for professionals to work individually with those affected by Autism and their families, "play" areas for varying ages are needed. Our library and administration tasks are now such that we also require a larger, better equipped admin area. A percentage of profits from all of our fundraisers go directly to our building fund.
